Тема: «Eating: traditions and habits»

Цели: расширение знаний учащихся о еде и о здоровом образе жизни


1. Познакомить учащихся с новой лексикой

2. Формирование монологической и диалогической речи

3. Тренировка навыков аудирования

Оборудование: класс информатики (компьютеры и мультимедийная доска)

^ Познавательный аспект: учащиеся познакомятся с лексикой по теме «Еда», научатся правильно понимать что такое здоровый образ жизни.

Развивающий аспект: целенаправленное развитие психических функций, связанных с речевой деятельностью, таких как внимание, способность к анализу и синтезу, логическое мышление, языковая догадка.

^ Учебный аспект: работа, направленная на овладение такими видами речевой деятельности: говорением, аудированием.

Воспитательный аспект: повышение интереса к изучению английского языка, воспитание культуры языкового общения, умения внимательно слушать собеседника.

   ^ Языковой материал: лексика по теме: «Еда». Монологические и диалогические высказывания по теме «Еда».

T. Hello, Dear boys and girls! Nice to see you. take your seats. Let’s start our lesson. Today we are going to remember everything we discussed at the previous classes and speak about English , Russian traditional food, healthy eating habits.

Eating is one the most important events in everyone’s life. We enjoy eating - it’s part of who we are and part of our culture; in fact, eating is the hottest universal topic of all times. We depend on eating: the foods we eat are the sole source of our energy and nutrition. We know so much about eating: we are born with the desire to eat and grown up with rich traditions of eating. But we also know so little about eating - about how the foods we eat everyday affect our health.

2. Детские стихи…… I know some of you have learnt the poems by heart. Who is ready? We are listening to you!

3. Речевая подготовка

People of different nations have proverbs about health which underline the importance of health. Let’s remember some of them:

  1. Early to bed early to rise . Makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.

  2. An apple a day keeps a doctor away.

  3. You are what you eat.

  4. Eat to live, not live to eat.

Teacher: What proverb can we choose as a motto of our lesson?

T. - What do you know about food?

- Are you a good eater

- What food do you like to eat?

- What healthy food do you remember?

^ 5. Основной этап.

T. Different people eat different food. We have a great chance to meet two guests who from the UK and they’d like to share with their traditional food and know more about Russian one. The first guest has come to us from England. Please, come here.

Every country and every nation has its own traditions and customs. You can not speak about England without its traditions and customs. Englishmen are proud of their traditions and carefully keep them up. The English people keep their traditions even in meals. Porridge us the dish Englishmen era very fond of. Many of them eat porridge with milk and sugar for breakfast. By the way, breakfast time in England is between seven and nine. Then, between 12 and 2 there comes lunch time. In some English houses lunch is the biggest meal of the day-they have meat or fish, vegetables, fruits or pudding. For dinner they have soup, fish, vegetables, fruits or pudding. For supper they usually have a glass of milk and a cake or a cup of tea and sandwich. The English are tea-drinkers. They have it many times a day. Some Englishmen have tea for breakfast ?tea in lunch, tea after dinner, tea at tea-time and tea with supper. Some English families have’ “ high tea” or big tea and no supper. For high tea they may have cold meat, bread, butter, cakes, and, of course, a lot of tea. The Englishmen always drink tea out of cups, never out of glasses.

P2 . – Hello! I’m Brenda . My surname is Scott. I’m 12. I study at a secondary school. I’m from Scotland. And today I would like to know as much as possible about Russian Meals and I’ll be pleased if you answer my questions.

So, the first one: ^ What is a typical Russian Meal? What’s more popular?

P1. – Hello! My name is ………………… Well, Russia is mainly a northern country with long-lasting cold winner. The food should give us much energy and warmth to survive during the winner time. So, the essential components of Russian cuisine are the ones, which provide more carbohydrates and fat than protein. Fresh fruits and vegetables are rarely used in food. So, the top five components of a Russian Meal are:

-Potato (can be boiled, fried, potato soup, smashed potato)





^ T. – Thank you. What is your favourite food?

P1. - My favourite food is French fries.

T.-Really? And me too. And now when do the Russian people have breakfast, dinner, supper? And what would you like eat for breakfast, dinner and dessert?

P2. – Generally, a traditional Russian breakfast is warm and hearty and usually begins at 8 o’clock. Most Russians start the day with fine, rich and diverse foods. Porridge is one of the most popular traditional Russian breakfasts and can be blended with fruits. Eggs, sandwiches with meat, sausages, pancakes with butter, sour cream or jam are popular too. For drinks strong coffee or tea is served.

P3. – And I’d like to tell you about Russian dinner and desserts. Dinner is the main and the biggest meal of the day. Russians generally eat it between one or two o’clock. Soup usually begins the meal. Traditional Russian soups include borscht, rassolnik, okroshka and mushroom soup. After soup, a meat or fish dish is serves. Meat dishes include beef, goulash, pork chops, goose with apples. The meat dish is served with salads and potatoes or porridge. Dessert is light, is often is a cup of tea or a piece of fruit. Supper is the lightest meal of the day. It consists of some sandwiches, fruit or biscuits and tea or hot milk.

T.- I’ve known a lot about Russian traditional food. And I can say that we have as similar as different in dishes. (Презентация 3)

T. Now I see you like different food , but not all of the products are wholesome and healthy. Who can help us to choose healthy food?

To have healthy eating habits, you will need

  • cooking facilities

  • shopping list

  • healthy foods

  • breakfast

  • healthy snacks

  • water


  • books

  • Internet access

Step One

Cook and prepare your meal only from useful products and try to avoid eating fast food.

Step two

plan your healthy rules and make a shopping list. Fill your card with a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables.

such as garlic onion, ginger, grapefruit, plums and so on.

^ Step three

read nutrition books and count calories . be careful of using Saturated fat(насыщенный жир), sodium and sugar.

Step Four

eat breakfast every day. Breakfast gives you energy to the whole day.

Step five

dinner is the main and the biggest meal of the day. It should consist of a lot of vitamins and natural foods.

Step six

Drink water every day. Water is the best way to be healthy.

I hope, this small lecture helps all of us to make the right choice of nutrition.
